Kevin is a qualified architect and has been with Bond Bryan for over twenty years and has extensive knowledge relating to the delivery of major projects using the latest technology.
He was instrumental in adopting computing and 3D modelling as early as 1993 developing Sheffield Wednesday FC’s stadium in 1994 using the model to demonstrate visual impact to residents at public consultation. From there the uses for the building model increased in line with the capability of software until 2005 where our model for Leicester College generated construction information right through to handover.
Whilst the workflow benefited the practice as architects the potential was obvious for both other consultants, clients and contractors. Despite reluctance from other disciplines Kevin and fellow directors created a dedicated team to improve models, outputs and skills within the entire practice.
The government announcement in 2011 was a welcome development. The last 5 years of research, development and applying BIM in practice have been a two way ‘Open’ process. Applying changing information and standards from government together with a crusade to improve software to be ‘Open’ and interoperable.
This collective knowledge is immensely useful to the Bond Bryan community and by using social media and Blogs we are keen to share it! Demand for knowledge and assistance has led to the creation of Bond Bryan Digital led by Kevin and Rob Jackson.
Kevin is also responsible for Bond Bryan’s internal systems, ensuring Quality accreditation and operation to relevant standards such as ISO 9001 & ISO 14001. This is managed via a custom created intranet which incorporates the resources and procedures needed by our architects whilst being ISO compatible.
Information Technology in practice has always been Kevin’s passion. ‘Open BIM’ has the opportunity to improve the quality and reputation of the building industry. Kevin and Bond Bryan Digital are committed to helping all participants to create a better future.
