A former colliery site, Dearne Valley is a four-bay fire station with community meeting facilities for use by local groups. A separate training building provides a number of training rigs. It is a showcase for sustainable design with resource-saving features such as solar power generation and water recycling. To encourage biodiversity the station’s perimeters are soft landscaped and also contain a pond.
On a former scrap yard site, Cudworth is a two-bay fire station developed along similar lines and construction techniques as its larger counterpart. It also contains facilities for local groups.
